South Tufa Reserve, Mono Lake, CA I'm fascinated by origin myths. It's interesting to read how various societies try to make sense of the natural world. While I was at Mono Lake one summer, I found this tufa rock formation. Coupled with the Milky Way behind it, I took a photo that allowed me to depict my own idea for an origin myth: a mighty dragon breathing our universe into existence.
South Tufa Reserve, Mono Lake, CA I took the symbolism of my "Birth of a Galaxy" photo and developed it a bit further. I used a laser pointer to light paint the eye of Yaw Y'klim, the dragon which breathed life into our universe. Hey, for all we know, this could be how the Big Bang got started. Maybe?
