Hello! I'm Eric Brummel, a photographer based in Los Angeles, CA. I specialize in Astrophotography, Landscapes, and Cityscapes. I also dabble in Portraits and Street Photography.

Growing up, I lived a sheltered life in a nondescript residential neighborhood in San Francisco, and didn't get to experience much of the outside world. The occasional trip to the local parks would make up the bulk of my family's expeditions out of the house. Even so, I had a fascination with exploration, watching Star Trek and various nature shows frequently. Still, I always thought of exploring as something other people did.

Due to this slow start, it took me a while develop an appreciation for firsthand exploration. It unfolded as I went on various trips and hikes with my friends as an adult. I can recall the most inspirational moment from one of these trips came during a moonless night on Lake Shasta. For the first time in my life, I saw the stars without city light pollution. I could see the core of the Milky Way, and it blew my mind. I felt an intense, almost spiritual feeling that still resonates with me to this day.

Not only did moments like these encourage me to see more of the natural world, it also inspired me to explore my immediate surroundings. I've been fortunate enough to be able to call San Francisco home for my whole life. On this site, you'll see photos I've taken in the city, of the city, and on road trips out of the city. It's all still novel to me, and I want to make up for lost time.

For me, photography is so much more than taking pictures. It's making pictures. After trying many other creative outlets throughout my life, I've found it to be the optimal way for me to artistically express myself. When you're in love, you want to share it with the world. I aim to do that with my photography, and I hope you'll come along for the ride.
